Words you will see in MeshCore.
- Advert
- Short for advertisement. An announcement made to the network of the presence of a device.
- Companion
- A personal radio that pairs with the MeshCore app that is your entry into the network
- Flasher
- The official web tool that writes MeshCore software (firmware) to your device.
- Flood
- Data that is sent to network to be repeated by all repeaters up to the maximum number of hops allowed by the companion that sent it, or the maximum hops set up on the repeaters, which ever is fewer. Typically 32 hops maximum.
- Hop
- The repeat performed by a repeater.
- Mesh
- A network where repeaters overlap coverage to create a robust, reliable network.
- Preset
- A named bundle of radio settings appropriate and legal for your region, such as the recommended "USA/Canada" preset.
- Repeater
- A stationary radio that repeats encrypted data.
- Room server
- A stationary device that stores messages so people can read them later. It may also act as a repeater, if the owner has enabled the ability.
- Web Serial
- A browser feature that lets a website talk to a USB device. Chromium-based browsers support it, Firefox does not.
